Frequently asked questions

15 common questions our PET buyers ask. Need more? Open the Guided Advisor or submit an RFQ.

Which preform do I need for 500ml water?

For 500ml still water, the 29/25 neck with a 12g preform is the most common choice. Lighter options (9–11.2g) exist for cost optimization. Use the Smart RFQ Builder to match exact specs.

What neck finish is used for carbonated soft drinks?

CSD uses PCO 1881 (the modern lightweight standard) or PCO 1810 (older). PCO 1881 supports pressures up to ~6 bar with the right closure. Weights range 13–53.6g depending on bottle size.

What material are Delta's closures made of?

Delta's water, juice, and dairy caps are HDPE. PP is used for can lids only. All closures are designed for the matching neck finish and the product's filling process (aseptic where required).

Can you make preforms with recycled PET (rPET)?

Yes — Delta produces preforms with up to 100% rPET, subject to food-grade certification and resin availability. rPET cuts carbon footprint significantly; use the Carbon Calculator to estimate savings.

What is the minimum order quantity?

MOQ depends on the SKU and neck finish. For standard preforms it's typically container-scale. Submit an RFQ via the Smart RFQ Builder and our sales team confirms MOQ, lead time, and pricing after technical and commercial review.

How long is the lead time?

Lead time varies by SKU, quantity, and whether tooling exists. Standard SKUs ship faster than custom designs. Submit an RFQ for a precise lead time confirmed by our sales team.

Do you export? Which markets?

Yes — Delta exports to 17+ markets across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, serving 23+ global brands. Shipping is FOB Alexandria; use the Smart RFQ Builder for a container loading estimate.

What certifications does Delta hold?

Delta holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000 V6, plus EcoVadis and SEDEX. These cover quality, environment, safety, and food safety management.

My bottles show pearlescence (white haze). Why?

Pearlescence (stress whitening) usually comes from over-stretching a too-cold preform or excessive orientation. Raise preform temperature, reduce stretch ratio, and keep TSR in the 9–12 range. See the Defect Library for details.

My CSD bottles lose carbonation. What's wrong?

CO2 loss is usually a sealing-system issue: closure liner, preform neck finish, or capper settings. It must be diagnosed across all three components together. Verify application/removal torque and top-load. See the Defect Library cross-component RCA.

Why do my caps crack in summer / hot climates?

This is environmental stress cracking (ESC), common in Egypt/GCC heat. Use an ESC-resistant HDPE grade, reduce molded-in stress, and test per ASTM D1693. Delta selects grades suited to hot-climate distribution.

How can I reduce my packaging carbon footprint?

Three levers: switch to rPET (biggest impact), lightweight your preform/closure, and optimize logistics. Delta's Carbon Calculator estimates CO2e savings per option using published emission factors.

What do you offer for edible oil bottles?

For edible oil, Delta offers the 29/21 neck (17.6–29g) and 42/36 neck (80–84g). The choice depends on bottle size and filling line. Use the Smart RFQ Builder to match your line.

Do you make 5-gallon preforms?

Yes — Delta produces 5-gallon preforms with the 55mm neck (340–668.5g range). These serve water-cooler and bulk-water applications. Submit an RFQ for the exact weight and quantity you need.
